Welcome to my blog! If you’re here, chances are you love dogs, or you’re trying to understand one a little better.
My name is Hope Verra, and my life revolves around dogs in literally every single way. I’m a professional dog trainer and the founder of Balanced Paw Dog Training. I also am the co-founder and head of animal care for Hope’s Haven Dog Rescue. Over the years, I’ve worked with dogs from every background imaginable… from confident, carefree puppies to dogs who have known fear, neglect, or uncertainty. Dogs of every breed, size, and with owners of different experience levels and lifestyles and all with different goals.
This blog is a space I’ve wanted to create for a long time.
Not just to share training tips.
Not just to tell rescue stories.
But to talk honestly about the connection between the two.
There is sooooo much that goes into creating a great life for your dog and I am prepared to cover all the bases.
Dog psychology, communication, health and nutrition, relationship building, routines and regiments…. The list goes on.
But as important as all of that… it requires balance in your lifestyle to achieve the right energy and maintain your success.
I find beauty in the Balance required for a happy and healthy life, and apply the same mindset when navigating life with dogs too.
My Philosophy
I believe dogs don’t need to be “fixed.”
They need to be understood.
Balance doesn’t mean perfection, it means meeting a dog where they are and giving them the tools to succeed in the world we ask them to live in. Whether I’m working with a client through Balanced Paw or bringing a dog into safety through Hope’s Haven, the goal is always the same:
To create clarity.
To build trust.
To give dogs a life that feels safe, predictable, and full of connection.
An Invitation
If you’re an adopter, a dog owner, a fellow rescuer, or someone simply trying to do right by the dog in front of you… you’re in the right place.
This blog is for anyone who believes dogs deserve patience, guidance, and second chances.
Thank you for being here.
I’m glad you found your way.
